Facing Fear

At some point in your life I am 100% sure you have stood face to face with some sort of fear.  The fear can be small, medium or large.  (bare with me here lol)  The fact is you looked fear straight on or did you?
Did you allow the fear to win?  Or did you overcome your fear and/or fears and have victory?  Recently I have found myself really struggling with the 4 letter word "FEAR".    As parents we always worry about our kids, there well being, making sure they have what they need to be successful in this world.  Add to that we worry about the unknown.  The what ifs of life.  What if this happens what will they do?
As I have been walking through my own battles I have been reminded by many lately about that this nasty word we call fear.
Fear is a liar and its pure goal is to destroy our peace, joy, hope and the list goes on.   In all reality it is a hindrance to our enjoyment of life.   Ultimately it paralyzes you, immobilizes you and causes you to question moving forward.

2 Timothy 1:7 says "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."

The Bible tells us that we need to put on the armor of God.  Ephesians 6:10-12 says  (MSG)
10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

Recall His Word and use it to fight the battle of our minds so you can take every thought captive.  I am thankful that God’s Word is powerful, and as I struggle with moments of fear, His Word is able to come and replace the fear with His truths.  One verse the Lord reminds me of often is Isaiah 41:10. It says, “Fear not, for I am with you, Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Fear paralyzes. It limits us and keeps us in a place we don’t belong. It keeps us from moving forward, making the bold decisions, the right choices and taking the courageous road.

Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
