That Kid

I was reading back through some old post on Facebook and this one still is as heavy on my heart today as it was just a few months ago!
"That Kid"
This has been really heavy on my heart for the past few months. So heavy it brings me to tears when I think about it.
As parents I want to encourage each and everyone of you to remember this and to always remember "that kid". I am not talking about the kid with the less then perfect hair or clothes. I am talking about "that kid" who has the awkward social skills, who doesn't know when it's time to speak or not to speak or the difference between what is appropriate versus inappropriate. I am talking about "that kid" who no matter what is always smiling because they don't understand why everyone else is mad. I am talking about "that kid" who has some needs that have to be handled a little different and the parents may chose not to tell everyone in social media land about "that kid". I am talking about "that kid" that other kids find it fun to pick on or to use them as an escape goat. I am talking about "that kid" that just wants to be a kid....
Is my son that kid.... Yes, yes he is. But that is not something I feel I need to advertise.  I chose this because he deserves the right to be a kid, and not just "That Kid"

But I do want you to remember "that kid" next time and remember there is probably more to "that kid" then you ever imagined!
