Why Do I Need Jesus???

You aren’t good enough to be friends with God because you follow rules. You’re good enough because you believe in and trust the only One who is good: Jesus! God gave His people rules to show them the way life works best. He wanted them to learn that they could never be good enough without His help. God’s help is a gift called grace. Grace is a gift that can never be earned. We can’t earn God’s grace by working hard to please Him. He gives it freely. We aren’t strong enough to please Him by ourselves. God’s grace gives us the power to live free from sin. It’s because we put our trust in Jesus. Not because we’re good at following rules. You can talk to God and thank Him for making you good enough with His gift of grace.

I was reading my daily devotion from Joyce Meyer, and it was one God laid on my heart to share.  I have found that it is so easy to walk away from God when life thows a curve ball here and there.  The reality is every time we walk away, every time we say not now.  The devil gets in our hearts that we only need ourselves and no one else... That is the worst lie anyone of us can believe!  I encourage each and everyone of you to step out in faith, and do whatever you have to do in order to get right with God.  Being right with God does not mean we are perfect, it means that we admit we are a sinner saved by His grace!

Separate Your 'Who' from Your 'Do' -Joyce Meyer
I've made mistakes in my life, and I'm sure I'll make mistakes in the future, but I still like myself. The fact is, I don't do everything right all the time, but that doesn't affect who I am. I know I'm loved and I'm still a good person. That's because I've learned to separate my 'who,' new creature in Christ, from my 'do.'
When you realize that what you 'do' doesn't determine 'who' you are, you can experience a new level of freedom from shame.
When you know that God likes you, you can start to really like yourself. When you start to like yourself, other people begin to like you too. Liking yourself doesn't mean you're full of pride; it simply means you accept yourself as the person God created you to be.
We all need changes in our behavior, but accepting ourselves as God's creation is vital to our progress in becoming an emotionally healthy person. If we can master this one thing, liking ourselves, it will work wonders in helping us to overcome a shame-based nature.
Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, help me to separate my 'do' from my 'who'. I can like myself and experience freedom from shame because You are constantly working in my life.
